Memorial Park Golf Course is 600 beautiful acres located in Memorial Park, Houston's largest and most preferred park. Memorial is centrally located inside loop 610 and only minutes from Downtown Houston and the Galleria. Memorial is known as one of the best municipal courses in the nation and in 2004 Golf Digest named Memorial as one of the best courses to play. Memorial was designed by architect John Bredemus and he called it his greatest golf course ever. Memorial opened in 1936 and through the years hosted many famous golfers such as Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Jimmy Demaret. A renovation of Memorial began in 1994 with a goal to restore the golf course to its original grandeur. Great detail was given to preserving the historical quality and in 1995 the newly renovated 600-acre course by Jay Riviere and Dave Marr opened with a lighted golf range, learning facility and a beautiful new clubhouse.
The Memorial Park Golf Range has a newly installed state of the art lighting system and shade structures that now provides a quality and comfortable learning, training and practice environment. The golf learning facilities offer three greens; one for bunker and wedge play, one for putting and one for chipping, pitching and putting. The facility now opens on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. and the last bucket of balls will be sold at 8:30 p.m. The Memorial Park Golf Range hours are 6:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m. for ball vending machines. The range will remain open till 10:00 p.m. on the weeknights and 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
